Philippine's Al-Qaeda-linked separatists like to party, too
Hedonism is universal that you often find people you least expected to bingeing in carnal pleasures of the modern times. Consider the Philippine Muslim separatist group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), whose commanders and their families are exerting less effort--or none at all-- at hiding their tastes for flashy cars, expensive wines, luxury lines of Western clothing and other comfort they can afford for themselves. There are only two major commercial centers near their lairs in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)--Davao and Cagayan de Oro cities--and one would not find it difficult to find armed men escorting these god-like creatures in malls, high-end boutiques and even McDonalds. And yet the people in ARMM--the areas in the country they claim to represent--are the poorest in the Philippines. A stark contrast, indeed, to their hedonistic lifestyle. |
